Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Belgium
From 1990-1991 she studied at the diplomatic academy in The Hague and was posted to the Netherlands’ Embassy in Paris in the press and cultural affairs department (1991-1993). From 1993-1997 she worked in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in The Hague on the Middle East peace process and in the field of development co-operation. She was seconded to the European Commission (1997-1998) and the Council of the European Union (1998-2002), where she worked in the area of external relations/CFSP, dealing in particular with human rights, UN affairs, the Middle East and counter-terrorism. From 2002-2004 she was member of the Secretariat of the European Convention on the Future of Europe, with a focus on the EU’s external action and the role of National Parliaments.
During the Dutch Presidency of the EU, she was coordinator of the Political and Security Committee at the Dutch Permanent Representation to the EU (2004-2005). In the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in The Hague she worked as management advisor Consular Affairs (2005-2006), Head of the Human Rights department and deputy Director Human Rights, Humanitarian Aid, Good Governance (2006-2010). From 2010-2015 she was Director of the Western Hemisphere Department. In 2015, she was appointed Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Belgium.
